This month's issue of The World Of Interiors has a lovely feature on Lina Baretti, the Corsican couture jewller who - in her day - was feted by the likes of Balenciaga, Schiaparelli and Chanel.
Her use of lo-fi materials such as cork, metal, straw, velvet ribbon and tortoiseshell simply adds to the charm of her finished pieces. Just goes to show, you can look a million dollars without spending it.
In the words of my publisher: Maia has contributed fashion and lifestyle articles to publications including British Vogue, Elle, The Guardian, The Sunday Times Travel Magazine and Wallpaper*. Based in London, Maia is a co-founder of jewellery trends agency, Adorn Insight. She is also a visiting lecturer at Central St Martins. (Addendum - I'm now also the jewellery editor for www.becauselondon.com)
In my words: I have a magpie's tendency to hoard shiny things and since my little flat, and littler wallet, prohibit extensive collecting, I've resorted to cyberspace to stash the goods...
